Travellers who cannot apply for an eTA and need to carry other forms of identification

This group includes Canadian citizens, including individuals with dual citizenship. These group only need a valid Canadian passport to travel into the country. American-Canadians are included in this group and can be allowed with a valid Canadian or US passport. Canadian permanent residents and former permanent residents also fall under this group. They’re required to carry a valid permanent resident card or permanent resident travel document if they’re entering the country.

Travellers who are exempt from the eTA requirement

US citizens are exempt from the eTA requirement. Us citizens are required to carry proper identification, such as a valid US passport.
